On Monday, I presented a social media plan to a restaurant chain my agency represents in a PR capacity.
I recommended what I thought to be a good mix of outlets and channels to reach their target market, including Facebook.
My client responded, “Why do we need Facebook? What can it give us that our website can’t? [...]

Let’s play a game. Totally fictitious situation.
You’re a publicist and you represent a second-tier NBA superstar. Not a LeBron or Kobe, but one notch below. Still a major player in the game. Let’s call him, just for fun, “Gilbert Arenas.”
And let’s say that “Gilbert Arenas” just plead guilty to felonious gun possession in Washington, [...]

Conan O’Brien has won the current PR battle over NBC as it regards to hosting “The Tonight Show.”
Jay Leno, the former host who NBC retained to host a nightly comedy program (sounds kinda like “The Tonight Show,” right?), had his new 10pm show cancelled. And, in the best cancellation in the history of TV, NBC [...]

(Note: As promised on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, I am blogging following a very successful blackjack session in Las Vegas! What? A little table time after my CES work is complete is allowed!)
It is not unprecedented in any way for a star athlete to face off-the-court troubles. And it’s not so shocking if those troubles involve [...]

Monday night is a pivotal night in the professional wrestling industry. (Yep, talking ‘rasslin’ again…sorry…but work with me here, it’s worth it!)
Several months ago, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), the #2 wrestling organization in the world, signed without question, the biggest name in professional wrestling history, in Hulk Hogan. From the “Hulkamania” heyday of the [...]

Let’s get some debate going on a Monday morning, why don’t we??
I’ve heard an increasing number of people recently express their disgust with the term “social media guru.”
Here is how “guru” is defined by Wikipedia: “one who is regarded as having great knowledge, wisdom and authority in a certain area, and who uses it to [...]

Social Media Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year. Great food, decent-enough football, quality family time, some good Friday bargains…it’s a terrific time.
Well, I won’t be celebrating a traditional Thanksgiving this year, since Marisa and I will be in Thailand for our Honeymoon! Definitely a good reason, no?
This is going to be my last [...]

Tonight, my wife and I were set to participate in what we were told was a preview of TV content to be shown nationwide.
The presentation was put together by a company called “Television Preview.”
It was NOT what we expected.
——————————————
We were instructed by the tickets to arrive at the hotel by 7:30pm for the 7:45pm program [...]

Last night, “V” premiered on ABC. It is a remake of an early-1980s sci-fi thriller, where Lizard Aliens infiltrate our society, in order to eradicate all life! Fun~! (Sorry for the spoiler there…but if they admit it in the pilot, it’s fair game)
To get you in the mood for this post, here is the song [...]
