Here’s what I’m Buzzing about this gorgeous Wednesday morning:
There was a big hulabaloo yesterday about a survey that said that only 22% of people 18-24 are using Twitter. And people are FREAKING OUT about this! What astounds me is that people expected Twitter to be Gossip Girl-style abbreviations like “OMG did U C what shez wareing?????”
The fact of the matter is that Twitter isn’t a text-messaging service (although it can be!). Take a look at who is using Twitter and it is mostly professionals, celebrities, and trend-setters. That is totally OK. Could it be that the younger generation is showing discretion in not leaking all details of their personal life? Have they finally learned how to protect themselves from online predators?
It amazes me that we have been begging the “college kids” to be more private and keep their business to themselves, and then when they actually go and do that, people think the world is coming to an end!
I’m not sure how or when Twitter became the “Adult Table” at the social networking party, but that is alright with me.
