Wishing you and you family a very, very happy holiday season. And if you don’t relate to an established holiday, may I suggest Festivus?

Popularized by Seinfeld in the 1990s, it has become a holiday meme of all memes. Years ago, my roommate and I hosted Festivus parties, featuring nearly all of the required elements:

- Metal pole

- Wall of Grievances (instead of telling everyone, you wrote them on the wall…brilliant!)

- Feats of strength

- A distinct lack of tinsel

Maybe one day we’ll dust it off again…

It’s not often that a professional wrestling sports entertainment legend and action movie star does something that is so beyond awesome as what WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin does in this video.

So let’s cure that Case of the Mondays!

Sometimes, success in marketing can be boiled down to key elements.

One of them: Say what everyone else is thinking.

A few days ago, I saw a product with a name that brilliantly captures that sentiment:

If that didn’t make you laugh, there is definitely something wrong with you that you should go get checked out.

What other brands are doing a good job of saying the things you are thinking?

You have no idea how nerve-wracking and amazing this is for me.

This blog has been professional and somewhat personal for years now.

I’ve shared stories from my bachelor party and wedding, my career shift and even my childhood, to go along with my thoughts, observations and opinions on media, PR, social media, sports and the crazy nexus of the four I constantly find myself in.

And from the absolute bottom of my heart, I thank you for allowing me this forum.  And more importantly, for participating in it.  Our debates and discussions, laughs and lessons have meant that absolute world to me.

Don’t worry…it’s not going anywhere.  In fact, it’s only going to get better.

But that’s not the secret project I’ve been talking about for months now.

The secret project is an addition in so many definitions of the word and I am honored and humbled to be able to share it with you and invite you into this world.  This project has redefined my favorite word…awesome.  I hope you like it.

This is it.

Real talk: Rick Astley is all sorts of awesome.

That statement has been well-developed in this space over our time together.

I mean, he taught me everything I need to know about social media HERE and was the inspiration for one of my favorite phrases, Social Media Awesome.

So why Rick Astley?

Why NOT Rick Astley???

His music has brought smiles and laughs, both legitimate and ironic, to people worldwide.  Whether you truly appreciate his artistry or get a nostalgic chuckle when you get “Rick Rolled,” he is a major part of pop culture.

As such, I am declaring Monday, November 15, 2010 as #RickAstleyDay!
