I remember an episode of Duck Tales form my childhood, where Uncle Scrooge, Huey, Dewey and Louie find the Fountain of Youth. It was fascinating – a drink from a fountain and you can live forever!
Eternal life has captivated mankind for…ever.
How many TV shows or movies or books have you read or seen about the topic? Countless!
And now, in 2012, you just may be able to get pretty darn close to it.
Quiring Monuments, a custom gravestone company, recently introduced “Living Headstones.”
Now, while this makes me think of Futurama “heads in a jar,” it’s real…and intriguing.
On your gravestone, visitors can scan a QR code that takes them to a website with archived content about the deceased. Photos, videos, articles – a life chronicled so it’s never forgotten.
While you may not live forever, your content – and content about you, can.
I find this utterly fascinating. Even when you stop living, your story can continue to be told. Sometimes by you! How amazing would it be to make visiting a great-great grandparent’s gravesite an interactive experience? They aren’t just a body in the ground, but an ancestor that you can learn more about.
If this sounds like science-fiction, well…check out this scene from the first Superman movie, where Jor-El addresses his son from the grave.
Do you want your content to be matched with you for all eternity? For anyone to scan and access?
And if so, what content would you want to share?
