Sixteen months ago, give or take, I created #SportsPRChat for a few reasons.

Can you see me in People magazine? Working with the Ali family was THE highlight of my sports PR career.
1) To promote my then-employer, a sports PR shop
2) To connect with people much smarter and more talented than me
3) To have an absolute blast one hour every week
Consider it mission: accomplished.
While I left sports PR as my primary career (and transitioned into overall social media marketing), #2 and #3 are a resounding 100% success.
#SportsPRChat has been an absolute delight to watch grow.
As I announced last week, I’m retiring from moderating the chat with sadness, pride and excitement.
Sad that I won’t lead the discussion every week.
Pride in how the chat has boomed and grown and evolved over the past year and a half.
Excitement over the future of the group.
I couldn’t be happier to announce that Jon Stillwell and Angie Taylor will be taking over the chat immediately.
Jon and Angie are two young, rising sports professionals.
There were MANY incredible people who asked to take it over, and I thank EVERYONE who applied. There were no bad choices there.
But I can’t tell you how freakin’ excited I am to see where Jon and Angie can take this group!!!
I’ll still be around – you’ll see me on the chats, blogging, Tweeting and the rest. I just won’t be calling the shots.
Thank you for the opportunity. Thank you to the hundreds and hundreds of people who have participated in the chat.
I’ve just asked the questions. And I’ve loved every second of it.
Jon, Angie – it’s all yours now!

[...] This announcement was the perfect opportunity for me! I applied, and he appointed Jon and me the new hosts in March of this year. To put it in sports terms, I took the field as a ref in the #SportsPRchat game. I was, and still [...]
